“THIEVES stole a diamond ring worth a four-figure sum by distracting a Greenock shopworker. The two men and a woman, all of foreign appearance, pretended to be interested in buying the ring at McNeils Jewellers in the Oak Mall, Greenock. They engaged the staff member in conversation and during the discussion they managed to swap the ring for a cheap imitation, worth just £5, then left the premises.”
